BACKGROUND:
Per California Government Code 27131, the County Treasurer has elected to appoint Kevin Bultema, Deputy Superintendent, Business Services, to serve on the Treasury Oversight Committee, subject to the Board of Supervisor's confirmation.
DISCUSSION:
Kevin Bultema is being nominated to serve on the Treasury Oversight Committee for a seat formerly held by Denise Porterfield. He is currently the Deputy Superintendent, Business Services for the San Mateo County Office of Education. Most recently, Mr. Bultema was the Assistant Superintendent, Business Services for Chico Unified School District since 2013. Prior to his position at Chico Unified School District Mr. Bultema was the Assistant Superintendent, Administrative Services and Director of Business Services for Butte County Office of Education. He was the Former Board President of the Butte Schools Self-Funded Program (BSSP), Board Member of the Northern California Schools Insurance Group (NCSIG), Butte County Schools Representative for the Redevelopment Successor Agency Oversight Board, and Chico Schools Representative for the Chico Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Bultema has expertise in developing budgets and annual financial statements for public education agencies utilizing fund accounting and Standardized Accounting Code Structure (SACS). He also successfully implemented AB1200 fiscal oversight with progressive support and intervention to maintain school district fiscal solvency.
