Honor the Sequoia Hospital/ Dignity Healthcare team to acknowledge their partnership in the San Mateo County COVID-19 vaccination rollout and authorize the President of the Board to sign the commendation.

BACKGROUND:
A top priority of San Mateo County's plan to mitigate COVID-19's impact on San Mateo County residents remains to maximize reach of the vaccine. As we continue to see vaccine uptake, we are grateful to be among the most highly vaccinated communities in the country. At the same time, we recognize that achieving equitable vaccine reach requires radically convenient options for residents in the most vulnerable communities to overcome the access barriers they confront.
Sequoia Hospital/ Dignity Healthcare (Sequoia) has been a key part of the County's effort, stepping in to partner with us early in the mass vaccination efforts that reached older adults and healthcare workers quickly in a drive-through operation at the San Mateo County Event Center. As we initiated community-based clinics, Sequoia again served a vital role. With the feedback of residents and community leaders with trust in the least reached communities, they worked with us to mobilize consistent vaccination options at locations, days and times that meet the needs of residents.
In North Fair Oaks, Sequoia partnered with San Mateo County and the existing safety net clinic and pharmacy providers to offer regular, weekend clinics throughout the spring and summer of 2021. The Sequoia team worked with community leaders and trusted community-based organizations to assure that these regular weekend clinics would be welcoming, safe and efficient.
