BACKGROUND:
In 2005, following the Virginia Tech shooting, the Office of Emergency Preparedness and the Board of Supervisors developed a plan to help the residents of San Mateo County become better prepared for natural disasters and civil unrest. San Mateo County Disaster Preparedness Day has been celebrated yearly since then.

This year, the event will be held on Saturday, September 18, 2021 at the San Mateo County Event Center.

* Silicon Valley Community Foundation: $5,000
