BACKGROUND:
The COVID-19 pandemic has had a disproportionate impact amongst California's diverse population groups. On March 31, 2021 California Government Operations Agency announced that the State would be making available $7,600,000 in funding to the nine Bay Area Counties (10 Local Health Jurisdictions) for the purpose of administering vaccines in communities that are at increased risk of COVID-19 infection and hospitalization. San Mateo County will be receiving $750,000 of this allocation. The goal of this agreement is to accelerate COVID-19 vaccinations to the most vulnerable, high-risk populations within the County.

DISCUSSION:
San Mateo County proposes to use the funding provided through this agreement in two main areas for the purpose of administering vaccines in communities that are at increased risk of COVID-19 infection and hospitalization: 1) a series of contracts with Community Based Organizations (CBO's) administered through the San Mateo County Office of Community Affairs (OCA); and 2) a Management Analyst position through San Mateo County Health's Public Health Policy and Planning division. The following goals are proposed to improve COVID-19 vaccine uptake in Health Equity Quartile (HEQ) communities in San Mateo County:
