A)                     An agreement with the Town of Woodside for the provision of law enforcement services, for a three-year term from July 1, 2021 through June 30, 2024, with the option to extend for an additional three years to June 30, 2027, and a total of $2,485,018.28 for the initial one-year term; and

 

B)                     The Sheriff or Sheriff’s designee to execute amendments associated with this agreement, provided that any additional costs incurred on behalf of the County are fully reimbursed by Town and therefore said amendment(s) do not result in any net cost to the County’s General Fund.

BACKGROUND:

The Sheriff’s Office has provided contract law enforcement services to the Town of Woodside for many years. The services include basic police patrol, traffic enforcement, crime investigations, and crime prevention services. The Town has expressed its desire to continue contracting with the County for these services. The current contract is set to expire on June 30, 2021.

 

DISCUSSION:

The proposed agreement is for a three-year period from July 1, 2021 through June 30, 2024, with the option to extend the term for three years to June 30, 2027. The Sheriff’s Office will continue to provide basic police patrol services 24 hours per day, traffic enforcement and citation processing services, special event security detail, crime investigations, and crime prevention services.  Direct and indirect costs associated with delivering these services are also included.

 

County Counsel has reviewed and approved the resolution and agreement as to form.

 

FISCAL IMPACT:

The agreement with the Town of Woodside is for a three-year term commencing July 1, 2021 through June 30, 2024, with the option to extend for an additional three years to June 30, 2027. Under the agreement, the Sheriff’s Office will be reimbursed a total of $2,485,018.28 for the first year. Reimbursement from this contract has been included in the Sheriff’s Office FY 2021-22 Recommended Budget and will be included in future budgets. There is no Net County Cost.
