BACKGROUND:
After obtaining Board approval on June 5, 2018, by Resolution No. 075929, the County entered into an agreement with The Multicultural Institute (MI) for the term of July 1, 2018 through June 30, 2020, for a total obligation amount of $332,000 to provide street-based outreach employment matching services to day laborers and employers. MI provides street-based outreach to laborers where they congregate, and arranges job placements, hosts informational workshops, connects day laborers to supportive services (benefits, vocational training, medical), and fosters relationships with/between stakeholders and the laborer community. The goal of MI's Day Laborer Street Outreach Program is to increase employment and vocational training opportunities for day laborers, provide solutions to safety, provide information regarding workers' rights and to address concerns from employers, communities and neighboring residents.

After obtaining Board approval on December 3, 2019, by Resolution No. 077089, the parties amended the agreement to extend the term by 12 months for a new term of July 1, 2018 to June 30, 2021, and increased funding by $332,000 for a new obligation amount not to exceed $518,185, to cover the cost to provide services for the extended term.

DISCUSSION:
