BACKGROUND:

Pursuant to resolution of the Board of Supervisors, the bylaws of the North Fair Oaks Community Council have historically provided for nine voting adult members and one youth member and one youth member alternate.

DISCUSSION:

Gabriela Ake and Xitlali Curincita are being recommended for appointment to serve on the North Fair Oaks Community Council as Youth Member and Youth Member Alternate.

Gabriela Ake is a Junior at Sequoia High School in Redwood City. She has long been involved in her community, including her current position as teen staff at the Boys and Girls Club of the Peninsula in their Redwood City location.  There, she helped create the organization’s website, and sparked her interest in becoming a web designer. Gabriela has also been involved in Project Read since a young age. She looks forward to bringing the youth viewpoint, particularly of youth of color to the Council.

Xitlali Curincita is currently a student at Woodside High School and Canada Community College, where she is active in student government and serving as a student senator in their Associated Students organization. She has long been involved in Project Read, St. Anthony’s Padua Dining Room and at the Pomeroy Recreation and Rehabilitation Center.
