Adopt a resolution authorizing the President of the Board of Supervisors to execute an amendment to the agreement with the San Mateo County Transit District and the Peninsula Corridor Joint Powers Board (collectively, “Transit Agencies”) for the provision of public safety dispatch services.

BACKGROUND:

On July 1, 2017, the County and Transit Agencies entered into an agreement for Law Enforcement and Emergency Dispatch services, as approved by Resolution 075861 by this Board on April 21, 2018.


DISCUSSION:

The original agreement had a three-year term which ended on June 30, 2020, and a total fee of $617,049.

The parties now wish to extend the term of the agreement by five years, commencing July 1, 2020 and expiring June 30, 2025, with a corresponding increase in fees to $1,193,019.

The proposed amendment was approved by the Board of Directors, San Mateo County Transit District on November 4
th, 2020 and by the Board of Directors, Peninsula Corridor Joint Powers Board on November 5th, 2020.

County Counsel has reviewed and approved this amendment as to form.

FISCAL IMPACT:

This amendment calls for a total reimbursement amount of $1,193,019 over the five year term, with a 4% increase each year beginning in FY 2020-21, for a total increase over the term of $37,414. Reimbursement for FY 2020-21 has been included in the Recommended Budget, and will also be included in the Recommended Budgets for the term of the amendment.
