BACKGROUND:

The Exposition and Fair Association directs the use of Event Center facilities. Directors are responsible for policy in the management and daily operation and maintenance of the Event Center.

 

DISCUSSION:

Thomas Ames has served on the Event Center Board of Directors since September 2014 and is being recommended to serve for a third term.

 

During his time on the board, he has served on several committees, held the position of Secretary/Treasurer for one term, Vice President for two terms, and President for two terms. Mr. Ames’ other volunteer activities include San Mateo County Civil Grand Jury 2007, San Mateo County Historical Association Board of Directors, for which he is presently serving, and past member of St. John's Cemetery Board of Trustees. He is also a volunteer with Mission Hospice of San Mateo. Thomas retired from the Burlingame Fire Department with the rank of Captain after 36 years of service, and holds a Bachelor of Science degree after attending California State University Long Beach and the University of San Francisco.
