BACKGROUND:
On September 17, 2019, the Board approved an agreement with Puente de la Costa Sur (Puente), for Project SUCCESS services for the term July 1, 2019 through June 30, 2021 and Mindfulness-Based Substance Abuse Treatment (MBSAT) services for the term July 1, 2019 through December 31, 2019, in the amount of $610,709.

On December 10, 2019, the Chief of San Mateo County Health approved an amendment extending the MBSAT services through June 30, 2020, increasing the maximum amount by $10,927 to a new maximum of $621,635, with no change to the agreement term.

DISCUSSION:
Through the Project SUCCESS service model, Puente prevents and reduces substance use and abuse, along with associated behavioral health issues among high risk, multi-problem youth ages 9 to 18. The early intervention services operate in communities with a high proportion of underserved populations, focusing on middle school and high school aged students.
