BACKGROUND:
New funding from California Department of Aging (CDA) is allocated for the Dignity at Home Fall Prevention (DHFP) program. The goal of the DHFP program is to provide fall and injury prevention information, education, referral services, equipment, assessments, services, materials, and labor costs to individuals who: (1) are sixty years of age, or (2) have disabilities. Eligible individuals also should have an adjusted household income that does not exceed eighty percent of the area median income, and are at risk of falling or institutionalization.

California Department of Aging (CDA) released the program memo for Dignity at Home Fall Prevention Program on January 31, 2020. San Mateo County was granted an extension to submit a budget and program narrative by June 30, 2020. Both budget and program narrative were submitted and approved by CDA on June 9, 2020.
Funding for this program will come entirely from the State. Additionally, Health is requesting the Board to waive the Request for Proposals process because this program is the sole source of these fall prevention program services.
