BACKGROUND:

The mission of the San Mateo County Commission on Aging (CoA) is to improve the quality of life for seniors in San Mateo County through the promotion of independence, self-sufficiency, mental and physical health, as well as community involvement.

DISCUSSION:

Kathy Uhl is being recommended to serve an initial partial term to a seat that was formerly held by Robert Giusti, who has since resigned.

Kathy Uhl currently lives in Burlingame and has resided in San Mateo County for over 50 years.  She retired after a career as Executive Director of the Independent Living Resource Center in San Francisco and is looking forward to bringing her experiences as a non-profit director to help older adults and people with disabilities in the County she calls home.  She comes from an Armed Services family who have proudly served from World War II through the Vietnam War.  Her goal is to advocate for ways to empower the growing older adult community in San Mateo County so they can age with grace and dignity.

FISCAL IMPACT:

None.
