body
BACKGROUND:
On August 9, 2016 the Board approved an agreement with Golden State Aesthesia Consultants Inc. to provide specialty anesthesia and pain management services. On October 22, 2019, the Board approved an amendment to extend the agreement through July 31, 2020, with an associated increase in funding to allow San Mateo Medical Center (SMMC) time to issue a Request for Proposals (RFP) and get a new agreement in place. On February 25, 2020, SMMC completed an RFP for specialty anesthesia services and pain management services.
DISCUSSION:
Due to the COVID-19 response, SMMC is requesting the Board extend the term of the agreement through December 31, 2020, with an associated increase in funding to allow SMMC additional time to choose a vendor and get a new agreement in place.
The agreement and resolution have been reviewed and approved by County Counsel as to form.
The County’s Contract Compliance Committee has approved a waiver request to extend
the agreement by an additional one year beyond the current term.
The resolution contains the County’s standard provisions allowing amendment of the County fiscal obligations by a maximum of $25,000 (in aggregate).
It is anticipated that 100% of physician surveys of anesthesia services assessing communication, timeliness, and overall quality will be rated at levels 4 or 5 on a 5-point scale.
