RECOMMENDATION:

Adopt a resolution authorizing:
A) The President of the Board to execute an agreement with Granite Rock Company, for the Preventative Maintenance of the Madera Lane Bridge Project in the San Gregorio Area of San Mateo County, in the amount of $796,676; and
B) The Director of Public Works to execute subsequent change orders to grant time extensions for project completion and payment up to a maximum aggregate amount not to exceed $79,668, or approximately 10 percent of the agreement amount.

BACKGROUND:
On March 24, 2020, your Board adopted Resolution No. 077323, which adopted plans and specifications for the Preventative Maintenance of Madera Lane Bridge in the San Gregorio Area of San Mateo County (Project), including conformance with Federal prevailing wage scale requirements, and authorized the Director of Public Works to call for sealed bids to be received.
DISCUSSION:
On Thursday, April 30, 2020, bids were accepted for this Project and subsequently referred to Public Works for checking and recommendation. The bid of:

at $796,676 was the lowest bid received for the work. The Engineer's Estimate was $929,489. A summary of the bids received is attached as Exhibit "A".
The Department obtained a National Environmental Policy Act Categorical Exclusion and the required regulatory permit for this Project. This Project qualifies for a Categorical Exemption pursuant to Section 15301(c) of the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) Guidelines for Implementation.
