BACKGROUND:
Your Board has adopted similar resolutions designating parking restrictions.

Section 22507 et seq. of the California Vehicle Code and Section 7.30.010 of the County of San Mateo Ordinance Code provides that local authorities may prohibit or restrict the stopping, parking, or standing of vehicles by resolution or ordinance.

The Department of Public Works (Department) received a Parking Restriction Request application from a constituent that lives on Prospect Street at Alameda de las Pulgas in unincorporated Menlo Park. The application described vehicles that are parked on Alameda de las Pulgas impeding sight distance from vehicles exiting westbound on Prospect Street.

The Department has evaluated the request and determined that a "No Parking" zone on Alameda de las Pulgas at Prospect Street is warranted and would benefit the community.

DISCUSSION:
The Department recommends adoption of a resolution to restrict parking at this location.
The proposed action would remove 130 feet of parking on the southern side of Alameda de las Pulgas allowing for greater sight distance for vehicles exiting Prospect Street towards Alameda de las Pulgas.

Property owners on adjacent blocks extending a minimum of 300 feet from the proposed parking zone location were notified of the date and time of your Board's meeting when these items will be considered.
