BACKGROUND:
The San Francisco Airport/Community Roundtable, which is funded by its member agencies, addresses noise impacts from aircraft operations at San Francisco International Airport (SFO). Member agencies include the City and County of San Francisco (the "City"), the County of San Mateo, 18 of the 20 cities in San Mateo County, and the C/CAG Airport Land Use Committee. The County of San Mateo acts as coordinator for the Roundtable and has used its resources to provide staff and advisory and technical services to the Roundtable. The funds are managed by the County of San Mateo through a trust fund used for these purposes.

Since 1993, the City has provided a minimum of $100,000 per year to the County to help support the activities and operations of the Roundtable. This funding covers a portion of the costs of operating the Roundtable, including contracts with consultants when needed. The remainder of the Roundtable annual funding comes from the County of San Mateo, 18 of the 20 cities in the County, and C/CAG on behalf of the C/CAG Airport Land Use Committee (ALUC). Utilizing the funding contributed by all of the members, the County provides an array of services that advance the Roundtable's objectives.

DISCUSSION:
