Adopt a resolution authorizing the Chief Elections Officer, or his designee, to enter into an agreement for and receive, on behalf of the County, state and federal Help America Vote Act (HAVA) funds provided by the U.S. Election Assistance Commission (EAC) for county efforts to implement the Voter’s Choice Act (VCA) in an amount not to exceed $670,223.00.

BACKGROUND:

The California Secretary of State has put forward an agreement offering a grant to reimburse the San Mateo County Registration & Elections Division for one or more of the following purposes, as related to implementation of the VCA and further defined in said agreement:

 

                     Equipment and infrastructure

                     Advertisement, Printing, Translation, and Design of Education and Outreach Materials

                     Mobile Vote Centers

 

A copy of the agreement, which uses the State of California - Department of General Services Standard Agreement form, is attached as Exhibit “A” to this memorandum and incorporated by this reference. The reimbursements provided under this agreement shall not exceed $670,223.00.

 

DISCUSSION:

County Counsel has reviewed and approved the resolution as to form.

 

FISCAL IMPACT:

There is no net County cost associated with accepting the reimbursement grant funds from the State of California.
