BACKGROUND:
County Maintenance District 1 was formed in 2016 as the successor agency to the Los Trancos County Water District. Through the process, the County has agreed to work closely with a locally formed Community Advisory Council (CAC) in order to establish work plans that suit the needs of the community.

On July 25, 2017, your Board adopted Resolution 075364 authorizing Woodside Fire Protection District (WFPD) to provide fire prevention services to the communities of Los Trancos Woods and Vista Verde.

WFPD provides service to the Los Trancos Woods and Vista Verde communities and has in-depth knowledge of historical fire protection programs within the area.

Due to recent fires statewide, the Los Trancos Woods and Vista Verde communities is requesting WFPD to expand the areas of clearing (also known as home hardening).

DISCUSSION:
The CAC and the Department of Public Works (Department) agree that WFPD is the most suitable provider for enhanced fire services within these communities.

The Department recommends increasing the existing agreement with WFPD by $75,000 for a new not to exceed amount of $474,500.

County Counsel has reviewed and approved the resolution as to form.
