RECOMMENDATION:
title
Adopt a resolution establishing a 30-foot ADA Accessible Parking Zone on Nottingham Avenue in Unincorporated Redwood City.

body
BACKGROUND:
Your Board has adopted similar resolutions designating parking restrictions.

Section 22507 et al. of the California Vehicle Code and Section 7.44.010 of the County of San Mateo Ordinance Code provides that local authorities may determine and declare ADA accessible parking zone locations.

The Department of Public Works (Department) received a request from the property owner at 80 Nottingham Avenue, in the unincorporated area of Redwood City. The property owner requested an ADA accessible parking zone be established at this property to facilitate parking.

DISCUSSION:
The Department evaluated this request and has determined that the recommended parking restriction will not adversely affect the community. The Department recommends adoption of the 30-foot ADA Accessible Parking Zone restriction at the identified location.

The locations of parking zones and other traffic restrictions on County-maintained streets are currently shown on maps in the Department of Public Works and will be made available in list form on the Department's website. The master list will be updated to reflect the recommended changes, if your Board approves the proposed resolution.

County Counsel has reviewed and approved the Resolution as to form.

FISCAL IMPACT:
The cost of installing signs and painting parking zone markings varies and averages approximately $550 per parking zone. Costs are included in the FY 2019-20 Adopted Budget. There will be no impact to the General Fund.
