Honor Sarah Carey as Employee of the Month for February 2020 and authorize the President of the Board to sign the commendation.

BACKGROUND:
The Employee of the Month program was established in December 1984 to recognize and honor County employees who consistently demonstrate an outstanding level of performance.
Our Employee of the Month for January 2020 is Sarah Carey a Legal Secretary in the Department of Child Support Services.
DISCUSSION:
Sarah recently received her 40-year service award as a County of San Mateo employee. She has been with the Department of Child Support Services for 25 years. As the Legal Secretary, Sarah supports the team of attorneys in filing thousands of court pleadings in support of the financial wellbeing of children and families.
Sarah is consistently reliable in a high volume, fast paced litigation practice. She is commended for her exceptional team work, her interpersonal skills, and her willingness to adapt to changes in business process for the good of the program. Sarah sees the "big picture" and has a keen understanding of the legal process, which makes her an effective problem solver. Sarah keeps a positive attitude even when tested.
Sarah has adapted to all the changes throughout the years--from Dictaphones and typewriters to virtual files and e-filing of court documents. She is a compassionate and dedicated employee.
Our County is fortunate to have Sarah Carey as an outstanding employee.
