Adopt a resolution authorizing an amendment to the Master Salary Resolution 076798 to adjust the salary of the Director of Agricultural Services.

BACKGROUND:

On July 9, 2019, your Board adopted Master Salary Resolution 076798 which specifies the number of and providing compensation and benefits for persons employed by the County of San Mateo, sets appropriate rules and regulations and repeals all inconsistent ordinances and resolutions. Throughout the year, the salary resolution is amended from time to time to meet the needs of the County.

 

DISCUSSION:

The salary resolution change herein represents a salary adjustment for one classification. This amendment to the resolution has been reviewed and approved by the County Counsel’s Office as to form. The specific action is discussed in detail below.

 

Action:                     Adjust: Salary of D146, Director of Agricultural Services to $79.60 to $99.53 per hour.

 

Explanation: This action adjusts the salary range for the Director of Agricultural Services by 10% effective March 28, 2020. The adjustment is based on a salary survey of internal and external comparators conducted in preparation for the recruitment of a new Director. This action represents a monthly salary and benefits cost of $1,199 affecting one position. There is no change in the total number of authorized positions.

 

FISCAL IMPACT:

This action represents an annual cost estimate of $14,388.
