BACKGROUND:
The Emergency Medical Care Committee (EMCC) is responsible for reviewing and reporting its observations and recommendations to the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors and local Emergency Medical Services Agency (EMS Agency) regarding the emergency medical services system. The Committee monitors and presents recommendations to improve emergency medical care in San Mateo County.

The EMCC consists of 20 members appointed by the Board, for terms of four years, for up to three consecutive terms. The 20 members include 5 categorical positions, one of which is the executive leader of the county-wide exclusive emergency ambulance contractor, and 15 positions that must fit specific requirements in the bylaws including, but not limited to: (a) two fire service representatives, at least one of whom is a representative of the San Mateo County Fire Chiefs Association; (b) five consumer representatives who have no pecuniary or professional interest in emergency medical care, and whose primary residence is in San Mateo County; and (c) one representative of the San Mateo County Medical Association.

DISCUSSION:
Brad White is the former Categorical Member for this position and has resigned. Since his resignation, Rodney Brouhard is being recommended by AMR. Rodney Brouhard is the Regional Director for American Medical Response (AMR), responsible for the counties of San Mateo and San Francisco.
