BACKGROUND:
Podiatry serves as the basis for diagnosis and treatment of foot and ankle conditions. Pacific Foot Care Podiatry (Pacific) has provided podiatry services at the San Mateo Medical Center (SMMC) for many years.

DISCUSSION:
SMMC has a continuing need for podiatry services and Pacific offers SMMC the benefit of an experienced practitioner familiar with the complex nature of the County's patient base. This agreement will provide for podiatry surgery and clinic services at SMMC and its satellite clinics.

County Administrative Memorandum B-1 provides that contracts for physicians are exempt from the Request for Proposals process.

The agreement and resolution have been reviewed and approved by County Counsel as to form.

It is anticipated that 100% of all podiatry surgical services provided will adhere to the infection control standards as defined by the Joint Commission and Title XXII of the State of California, Code of Regulations, and other applicable standards.
