Adopt a resolution authorizing the Chief Elections Officer, or his designee, to enter into an agreement amendment for and receive, on behalf of the County, additional reimbursement funds offered by the California Secretary of State regarding the Help America Vote Act, in an amount not to exceed $1,601,462.20 for a total amount not to exceed $4,075,462.20.

BACKGROUND:

On February 26, 2019, this Board authorized the Chief Elections Officer to apply for and receive reimbursement funds related to voting system replacement through a grant from the California Secretary of State offered pursuant to Assembly Bill 1824 in an amount not to exceed $2,474,000.00 and with a term of February 1, 2019 through June 30, 2021. (See Resolution No. 076439.)  The Secretary of State has allocated the County additional funds under the grant, in the amount of $1,237,000.00, for replacement/upgrade to County voting systems and $364,462.20 for election management system replacement, for a total increase of $1,601,462.20.

 

DISCUSSION:

County Counsel has reviewed and approved the resolution as to form.

 

FISCAL IMPACT:

There is no Net County Cost associated with accepting reimbursement grant funds from the State of California.
