body

BACKGROUND:

The Commission is charged with the responsibility of assessing the needs of women, girls and families in the County. The Commission also acts as a resource to the Board of Supervisors (the “Board”) and makes recommendations to the Board annually.

DISCUSSION:

Susan Kokores is being recommended to serve a partial term for a seat formerly held by Rebecca Oyama who resigned from the commission in October 2019, thus creating a vacant seat for which the term expires December 31, 2022. Susan Kokores was selected for appointment from a recent Commission on the Status of Women recruitment from July 2019.

Susan Kokores has had extensive work and volunteer careers in the fields of healthcare as a nurse and in a hospital marketing position, in the non-profit sector as an account executive and fund development director, and in the community by serving on a school board, as well as working on a ballot measure campaign.  In addition, she co-founded a non-profit (Women’s Achievement Network and Development Alliance) dedicated to financially struggling single mothers that has enabled them to experience greater financial, educational, and retirement success.

FISCAL IMPACT:
