BACKGROUND:
The Maguire Correctional Facility, County Office Building 2 and the Hall of Justice are due for routine fire damper inspection and testing in accordance with International Building Code (IBC), International Fire Code (IFC), National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), and other local, state, and/ or federal laws, codes, and regulations.

The Department of Public Works (Department) intends to procure inspection and testing services for the fire damper systems throughout the three buildings.

DISCUSSION:
A Request for Proposals (RFP) process was used to select a qualified and preferred firm. A selection committee comprised of Department staff reviewed and ranked the submissions received from two qualified firms. The Department is recommending that your Board authorize an agreement with Siemens Industry, Inc. based on the strength of their proposal and reference checks.

The selected firm will inspect and test accordingly; provide inspection and test results and a summary report of all repair, replacement, or modifications to the existing system needed for compliance with International Building Code (IBC), International Fire Code (IFC), National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) and other local, state, and/or federal laws, codes, and regulations.

County Counsel has reviewed and approved the resolution and agreement as to form.

FISCAL IMPACT:
