BACKGROUND:

The San Mateo County Mosquito and Vector Control District’s (the “District’s) mission is “to safeguard the health and comfort of the citizens of this District through a planned program to reduce mosquitoes and other vectors.”  Pursuant to California Health & Safety Code (“Health & Safety Code) section 2021, the District’s Board has 21 members:  one from each of the 20 cities within San Mateo County and one member appointed by the Board of Supervisors.

 

DISCUSSION:

Pursuant to Health & Safety Code section 2024, District Board members’ terms of office commence at noon on the first Monday of January.  Section 2024 further provides that District Board members’ terms shall be for either two or four years, at the discretion of the appointing authority.  Ms. Mazzetti was appointed to the District Board by the Board of Supervisors on January 23, 2018.  Due to an administrative oversight, Ms. Mazzetti was appointed for a three-year term ending January 23, 2021. Pursuant to this action, Ms. Mazzetti’s term will be a four-year term ending December 31, 2021.
