RECOMMENDATION:
title
Adopt a resolution authorizing an amendment to the agreement with Golden State Anesthesia Consultants, Inc. to provide anesthesia and pain management services, extending the term of the agreement through July 31, 2020 and increasing the amount payable by $2,100,000, to an amount not to exceed $8,250,000.

body
BACKGROUND:
Golden State Anesthesia Consultants Inc. (GSAC) was selected through a Request for Proposals (RFP) in 2012 to provide anesthesia and pain management services to San Mateo Medical Center (SMMC). During the past six years, the anesthesia service at SMMC has improved through better utilization of the operating rooms, fewer cancelled surgeries and improved access to epidural spinal injections.

DISCUSSION:
SMMC has a continuing need for professional anesthesia and pain management services. SMMC issued an RFP in August 2019 for these services and in light of the pending RFP process, staff recommends that your Board extend the term of the current agreement with GSAC through July 31, 2020, to allow SMMC time to evaluate the proposals and get a new agreement in place.

The amendment and resolution have been reviewed and approved by County Counsel as to form. This amendment is coming to your Board late due to prolonged negotiations.

The resolution contains the County's standard provisions allowing amendment of the County fiscal obligations by a maximum of $25,000 (in aggregate).

The County's Contract Compliance Committee has approved a waiver request for a 42-month for this agreement.
