BACKGROUND:

The City of San Carlos has dedicated resources and funding to support an FTE OES District Coordinator specific to the City for providing emergency preparedness, planning, response, recovery, and mitigation services to the City and its residents. The dedicated OES District Coordinator will also be responsible for working with the City to prepare and engage its staff in disaster education, training and exercises for response to manmade and natural disasters and emergencies including activation of the City Emergency Operations Center (EOC).  In addition, the OES District Coordinator will work to develop disaster training and education for the community through community outreach and assist the City in renovating its existing Emergency Operations Center.

DISCUSSION:

Similar to the Sheriff’s Office’s contract cities of Half Moon Bay and Millbrae, the City of San Carlos is interested in obtaining an OES District Coordinator to support disaster services for City staff and residents.

The resolution and agreement have been reviewed and approved as to form by County Counsel.
