BACKGROUND:
On a yearly basis, the California Department of Fish and Wildlife awards the County Operational Areas grant funding to update their local Oil Spill Contingency Plan, identify gaps, attend area committee meetings, and participate in a statewide oil spill drill.

DISCUSSION:
The Cosco Busan Oil Spill that occurred in 2007 raised awareness throughout many San Mateo County agencies about protecting the public and local resources in the event of an oil spill. The resolution and agreement have been reviewed and approved as to form by County Counsel.

This agreement contributes to the Shared Vision 2025 outcome of the Collaborative Community by enabling various agencies within San Mateo County to work collaboratively to ensure that the public's safety as well as the surrounding environment is protected.

FISCAL IMPACT:
The FY 2019-20 Oil Spill Contingency Plan Grant Program funding in the amount of $10,000 with a term of July 1, 2019 through June 30, 2020, has been included in the Sheriff's Office FY 2019-2020 Approved Budget. There is n...
