Adopt a resolution authorizing an amendment to the agreement with Sutter Bay Medical Foundation dba Palo Alto Medical Foundation for Healthcare, Research, and Education to provide vascular surgery services, extending the term through December 31, 2019 and increasing the amount payable by $350,000, to an amount not to exceed $1,050,000.

BACKGROUND:
San Mateo County is responsible for providing necessary medical care to its medically indigent population. This care includes vascular surgery, as well as the management and supervision of this service. The Sutter Bay Medical Foundation - dba Palo Alto Medical Foundation for Healthcare, Research and Education - vascular surgery group has provided surgery services at San Mateo Medical Center (SMMC) for the past 12 years.
DISCUSSION:
SMMC has an ongoing need for vascular services. Because a new agreement has been delayed due to prolonged negotiations, SMMC is requesting your Board to extend the term of the current agreement through December 13, 2019.
County Administrative Memorandum B-1 provides that contracts for physicians are exempt from the Request for Proposals process.
The agreement and resolution have been reviewed and approved by County Counsel as to form.
The resolution contains the County's standard provisions allowing amendment of the County fiscal obligations by a maximum of $25,000 (in aggregate).
