Adopt a resolution authorizing the Director of the Project Development Unit or designee to execute an amendment to the agreement with Engeo Inc., increasing the amount by $900,000 for a new not-to-exceed amount of $1,500,000.

BACKGROUND:
In January 2017, the Project Development Unit (PDU) was formed to oversee and manage ground up construction performed by the County of San Mateo. Multiple large County capital projects are underway which will require intensified PDU operations for several years. The PDU requires substantial support from specialized consultants, including geotechnical engineering consultants, to appropriately manage these critical and complex projects. Geotechnical consultants provide services that include, inter alia, geohazards investigation, geotechnical/seismic investigation, soils testing, foundation design review, and geotechnical construction observation.
DISCUSSION:
Following a Request for Proposals, the County selected Engeo as a provider of on-call geotechnical engineering consulting services. On October 17, 2017, this Board authorized an agreement with Engeo in an amount not-to-exceed $600,000. Engeo has been utilized for the County Office Building 3, Parking Structure 2, Cordilleras Health Campus, Pescadero Fire Station, and Animal Shelter projects. Task orders that include the scope of work and not-to-exceed amount have been issued in an amount that approaches $600,000. This amendment will cover the cost of ongoing and anticipated work for the County's current capital projects including, but not limited, to County Office Building 3, Parking Structure 2, Cordilleras Health Campus, and Pescadero Fire Station.
