BACKGROUND:
In September 2013, your Board approved an agreement with CareFusion Solutions, LLC to provide equipment rental and support services for the Pyxis automated dispensing system. In January 2017, the agreement was amended to add a new storage room for intravenous medications.

DISCUSSION:
San Mateo Medical Center's (SMMC) pharmacy department has been assigned a dedicated Health Information Technology Division project manager, enabling the pharmacy to move forward on several urgent initiatives. SMMC is requesting that your Board extend the term of the current agreement by 12 months with the associated increase in funding to allow the pharmacy time to complete a Request for Information, followed by a Request for Proposals. This approach would allow the pharmacy to have a new automated dispensing system in place prior to the termination of this agreement. The agreement would cover both equipment rental and support services for such equipment.

The amendment and resolution have been reviewed and approved by County Counsel as to form. This contract is late due to prolonged negotiations with CareFusion.

The Information Services Department has reviewed and approved this amendment.
