RECOMMENDATION:

title

Adopt a resolution authorizing an amendment to the agreement with the Broadmoor Police Protection District (Agreement No. 30000-18-D059) increasing the amount of the contract by $100,000 to an amount not to exceed $199,000.

body

BACKGROUND:

On December 1, 2017, the County of San Mateo entered into an agreement (Agreement No. 30000-18-D059) with the Broadmoor Police Protection District for the provision of agreed upon law enforcement services within the District’s boundaries by the County through the Sheriff.

On December 6, 2017, the parties amended the Law Enforcement Services Agreement by increasing the not to exceed amount by $73,000 from $26,000 to $99,000.  This amendment also extended the contract term to June 30, 2018, and incorporated termination language.

DISCUSSION:

Due to unanticipated additional staffing challenges occurring in the Broadmoor Police Protection District, the District’s Police Chief has requested that the Sheriff increase the level of services provided under the agreement. The purpose of Amendment 2 is to increase the amount of the agreement by $100,000 to an amount not to exceed $199,000. This will allow the Sheriff’s Office to provide the appropriate level of services to the District and assist them in addressing their current staffing challenges. All other provisions of the existing contract remain unchanged.

FISCAL IMPACT:

Amendment 2 to the agreement with the Broadmoor Protection District increases the amount by $100,000 to a new not to exceed amount of $199,000.  This amount provides complete financial recovery for the services provided by the Sheriff’s Office. There is no net County cost.
