BACKGROUND:

The Board of Supervisors previously approved an agreement with CML Construction on January 23, 2018 (Resolution No. 075691), to install security cameras inside the Maple Street Correctional Center. The agreement was for an amount not to exceed $118,000 for the term January 1, 2018 through December 31, 2018.

DISCUSSION:

There is a need for additional security coverage of the inmate recreation yards was recently identified. This additional security coverage will increase safety for staff and inmates as well as provide protection against possible escapes.

This increase will ensure that the Maple Street Correctional Center is achieving the highest level of security by adding additional security cameras to the inmate recreation yards.

The resolution and amendment have been reviewed and approved as to form by County Counsel.

This agreement contributes to the Shared Vision 2025 outcome of a Safe Community by providing additional safety for the community by enhancing prevention or identification of possible criminal behavior occurring in the Maple Street Correctional Center.
