Adopt a resolution authorizing an agreement with Brian Yang, DDS, MD to provide oral and maxillofacial surgery services for the term of May 1, 2019 through April 30, 2021, for an amount not to exceed $120,000.

BACKGROUND:
San Mateo County is responsible for providing necessary medical and dental care to its medically indigent population, and access to services to its general population. Dr. Yang has been providing oral and maxillofacial surgery services at San Mateo Medical Center (SMMC) since May 2008.

DISCUSSION:
SMMC has a continuous need for oral and maxillofacial services due to the County's aging population. SMMC will continue to meet this need through maintaining contracts with Dr. Yang and other dental surgeons. Dr. Yang has agreed to provide necessary surgery, clinic and call coverage for SMMC patients.

County Administrative Memorandum B-1 provides that contracts for physicians are exempt from the Request for Proposals process.

The agreement and resolution have been reviewed and approved by County Counsel as to form.

The resolution contains the County's standard provisions allowing amendment of the County fiscal obligations by a maximum of $25,000 (in aggregate).

The agreement contributes to the Shared Vision 2025 outcome of a Healthy Community by providing County residents access to oral and maxillofacial surgery services. It is anticipated that 100% of all oral and maxillofacial surgery services provided under this agreement will adhere to the infection control standards as defined by the Joint Commission and Title XXII of the State of California, Code of Regulations, which will resu...
