title

BACKGROUND:
San Mateo Medical Center (SMMC) has a continuing need for pediatric cardiology services. Dr. Andrew J. Maxwell has been providing these services at SMMC since 2002.

DISCUSSION:
SMMC's participation in the Healthy Kids Program, through Health Plan of San Mateo, has resulted in an increase in the number of pediatric patients being referred for cardiology services. Dr. Maxwell will continue to provide pediatric cardiology clinics.

County Administrative Memorandum B-1 provides that contracts for physicians are exempt from the Request for Proposals process.

The agreement and resolution have been reviewed and approved by County Counsel as to form.

The resolution contains the County's standard provisions allowing amendment of the County fiscal obligations by a maximum of $25,000 (in aggregate).

The agreement contributes to the Shared Vision 2025 outcome of a Healthy Community by providing pediatric cardiology services to residents of San Mateo County. It is anticipated that 100% of all pediatric cardiology patients referred through the Healthy Kids Program will be evaluated and referred, as appropriate, for follow-up treatment.
