BACKGROUND:
Your Board has previously adopted resolutions authorizing the use of a "streamlined" process for maintenance-type projects to shorten the time required to award a contract in order to ensure compliance with specific funding or construction deadlines.

Your Board executed Resolution No. 075065 on February 28, 2017 and Resolution No. 075442 on September 12, 2017, which authorized the Director of Public Works to file applications to the Metropolitan Transportation Commission for federal funding for resurfacing portions of Canada Road and Edgewood Road.

Streamlined Advertisement/Award Process
The Public Contract Code provides that projects over $200,000 must be formally advertised and then awarded by the governing body based on competitive bids.
