Recommendation to:
A) Adopt a resolution accepting a donation in the amount of $18,000 from a member of the community who wishes to remain anonymous, for the purchase of two jet skis for the Sheriff's Office Emergency Services Bureau - Marine Unit; and
B) Approve an Appropriation Transfer Request in the amount of $18,000, establishing a budget appropriation and revenue for the purchase.

BACKGROUND:
The Sheriff's Office Emergency Services Bureau - Marine Unit consists of both paid staff and volunteer members who conduct various maritime search and rescue operations such as looking for lost or missing people and rescuing people in crisis within the surrounding waterways of San Mateo County. Jet skis are a critical piece of equipment to the Marine Unit's search and rescue efforts. The jet skis currently used by the Sheriff's Office have come to the end of their useful life and are in need of replacement. Furthermore, the current fleet of jet skis are manufactured by Honda who no longer manufactures jet skis, making them unserviceable by local dealers.
DISCUSSION:
A member of the community who wishes to remain anonymous, has offered to donate $18,000 to the Sheriff's Office Marine Unit for the purchase of two jet skis. Upon approval and acceptance of this donation, the Sheriff's Office Marine Unit will move forward with the purchase of two jet skis.
The donation will greatly enhance the Marine Unit's operational capabilities and increase the effectiveness of their search and rescue efforts.
The resolution has been reviewed and approved as to form by County Counsel.
