Adopt a resolution authorizing the Chief Elections Officer to apply for and receive, on behalf of the County, reimbursement funds through a grant offered by the California Secretary of State regarding the Help America Vote Act in an amount not to exceed $25,000.

BACKGROUND:
The California Secretary of State has put forward an agreement offering a grant to reimburse the San Mateo County Registration & Elections Division for one or more of the following purposes:

1) Travel expenses incurred by the Registration & Elections Division staff for attending accessibility trainings held by the Secretary of State.
2) Staff salaries and benefits incurred for accessibility surveys of polling places or for training staff to perform said surveys.
3) Other expenses incurred to make polling places accessible to individuals with the full range of disabilities that enhance access and participation in elections.
4) Costs associated with the acquisition or deployment of a remote accessible vote by mail system.
5) Assessment supplies or equipment as needed.

The reimbursements provided under this agreement shall not exceed $25,000.

County Counsel has reviewed and approved the Resolution as to form.

SHARED VISION 2025:
Approval of this Resolution contributes to the Shared Vision 2025 of a Collaborative Community. The training provided pursuant to the Help America Vote Act will help ensure our County's Vote Centers are accessible to all voters, and that voters with disabilities may have equal access to the Vote by Mail process through the Accessible Vote by Mail system.
