B) Declaring the persons elected to or nominated for certain offices.

BACKGROUND:
Within 30 days of an election the Chief Elections Officer is required to inspect, process, and count all ballots cast during an election and prepare a certified statement of the result. Upon acceptance of this statement, Section 15400 of the Elections Code directs the governing body of the jurisdiction to declare elected or nominated to each office voted on at the election the persons having the highest number of votes for each office.

DISCUSSION:
On November 6, 2018, the Chief Elections Officer conducted a Statewide General Election. The official canvass and Statement of the Vote was completed and certified by the Chief Elections Officer and is available at the Registration & Elections Division. An electronic copy of the Statement of the Vote is also published on the Registration & Elections Division website, www.smcacre.org. A copy has also been submitted to this Board as required by state law.
