BACKGROUND:
The Memorial Park Water Line Replacement Project aims to upgrade three segments of the aging Memorial Park water distribution system: Mainline, Wurr Road Pipeline, and Huckleberry Flat Pipeline. The first phase to be implemented, Huckleberry Flat Pipeline Segment ("Project"), will replace 1,200 linear feet of the water distribution system with Cured In Place Pipe. Once completed, the Project will improve water security and reduce the chance of catastrophic leaks in the Memorial Park water system. The Project will also ensure that a reliable supply of potable water is delivered to the Huckleberry Flat group day use area, Homestead Flat youth group camp ground, the Loma Mar fire station, Department corps yard, and a Department-owned ranger residence.

The Project also provides considerable environmental benefits. It will allow the Department to better conserve water by minimizing water leaks and protect stream flows in Pescadero Creek, especially during the summer months when stream flows are at its lowest levels. These efforts will assist in protecting habitat for the native steelhead trout and coho salmon.
