BACKGROUND:
For over 20 years, Behavioral Health and Recovery Services (BHRS) has contracted with StarVista for mental health services authorized by the Mental Health Plan (MHP), Girls' Juvenile Court services, child abuse treatment services, the Early Childhood Community Team, and substance use disorder treatment services.

In January 2016, BHRS released a Request for Proposals (RFP) for a program called "Health Ambassador Program - Youth" (HAP-Y), to encourage individuals, families, and community members to be active change agents regarding their health. StarVista responded with a proposal and was selected to provide these services.

In July 2016, BHRS released a RFP for an agency to develop and operate a Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Questioning (LGBTQ) Behavioral Health Coordinated Services Center to: service high-risk for serious mental illness and/or emotional disability individuals, improve the LGBTQ quality of life, address the emotional barriers associated with the LGBTQ population and their families, and improve access to behavioral health services. StarVista responded with a proposal and was selected to provide these services.
