BACKGROUND:

The North Fair Oaks Community Council has traditionally been comprised of a nine-member body. This action will fill two existing Council vacancies.

DISCUSSION:

The North Fair Oaks Community Council will benefit from the addition of Blair Whitney, who works as security professional, and Esmeralda Rosales, who is a student at Woodside High School. They are interested and excited to serve on the Council.

Blair Whitey is being recommended to fill a vacancy that occurred mid-term, and therefore would be appointed for the remainder of that partial term, ending December 31, 2019. Esmeralda Rosales is being recommended for appointment as an alternate youth member for a full term.

These appointments contribute to the 2025 Shared Vision statement of a Collaborative Community. Our diverse population works well together to build strong communities, effective government and a prosperous economy, civic engagement - including voting, public service, charitable giving, volunteerism, and participation in public discussions of important issues - is uniformly high among the diverse population of San Mateo County.
