BACKGROUND:
The Sheriff's Office has provided contract law enforcement services to the Town of
Portola Valley (Town) for many years. The services include basic police patrol, traffic enforcement, crime investigations, and crime prevention services. The Sheriff's Office has met with the Town, and the Town desires to continue contracting with the County.

DISCUSSION:
The proposed agreement is for a five-year period from July 1, 2018 through June 30, 2023. The Sheriff's Office will continue to provide basic police patrol services 24 hours per day, traffic enforcement and citation processing services, special event security detail, crime investigations, and crime prevention services. The agreement also includes direct and indirect services including supervision, fiscal, property, and records support, insurance, equipment, supplies, vehicle and radio maintenance, and replacement costs.

County Counsel has reviewed and approved the resolution and agreement as to form.
