Recommendation for appointments to the Agricultural Advisory Committee, each for a term ending June 30, 2022:
A) Lauren Silberman, appointment representing Business member; and
B) Judith Humburg, appointment representing Farmer member; and
C) William Cook, appointment representing Farmer member.

BACKGROUND:
The Agricultural Advisory Committee actively assists in the preservation of agriculture throughout San Mateo County through advice and recommendation to the Planning Commission and the Board of Supervisors.
DISCUSSION:
Lauren Silberman is a coastside native who is passionate about preserving the unique agriculture industry on the coast. She brings over five years of hands on cannabis experience in Oregon and California with cultivators, extractors, and dispensaries.
Judith Humburg has been a member and volunteer with Slow Food South Bay for over 25 years and is particularly interested in local farming and ranching activities as well as sustainable and organic farming methods.
William Cook’s efforts are focused around agricultural innovation to promote healthy and strong communities. He is an avid environmentalist with expertise in cannabis.
These appointments contribute to the 2025 Shared Vision statement of a Collaborative Community. Our diverse population works well together to build strong communities, effective government and a prosperous economy, civic engagement - including voting, public service, charitable giving, volunteerism, and participation in public discussions of important issues - is uniformly high among the diverse population of San Mateo County.
