Recommendation
Adopt a Resolution:
A. Waiving the Request for Proposal process
B. Authorizing an agreement with the Regents of the University of California to provide services to county residents by the University of California Cooperative Extension program, for the term of July 1, 2019 to June 30, 2021, in an amount not to exceed $208,160
Background
The University of California (UC), Division of Agriculture and Natural Resources connects the County's agricultural industry and all residents to UC research through the University of California Cooperative Extension program (UCCE). UCCE's advisors, specialists and faculty bring practical, science-based answers to Californians and deliver knowledge resources to the San Mateo County agricultural industry and to residents through local offices in San Bruno and at UC Elkus Ranch in San Gregorio. Their locally-based programs include a San Mateo County based advisor, the UC Master Gardeners, UC 4-H Youth Development Program, UC Master Food Preservers, and California Naturalists which connect residents of all ages to agricultural and natural resource sciences and empower them to become active and engaged citizens. Your Board approved the initial agreement between the Agricultural Commissioner/Sealer and UCCE on July 7, 2015 for FY2015-16 and 2016-17 (Resolution 073899).
Discussion
The funding from this agreement will allow UCCE to maintain the expansion of their services to County residents. The UCCE delivers information to San Mateo County citizens through educational and applied research programs. The UCCE shall work in conjunction with government agencies...
