RECOMMENDATION:
title
Adopt a resolution authorizing an amendment to agreement with Johnson Controls, Inc. to extend the term of the agreement by one year through June 30, 2019, and increase the maximum amount by $250,000, to an amount not to exceed $750,000.

body
BACKGROUND:
On June 28, 2016, your Board approved an agreement with Johnson Controls Inc. (JCI) to provide security improvement services throughout the San Mateo Medical Center (SMMC) and its clinics due to an ongoing need for additions and improvements to its security systems. On June 20, 2017, the Chief Executive Officer of SMMC approved an amendment to extend the term of the agreement through June 30, 2018, due to projects pending completion with no increase to the amount.

DISCUSSION:
Beginning in the Fall of 2018, SMMC is preparing to comply with the Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development's regulatory requirements that will result in significant changes to operations on the SMMC campus, including the relocation of departments to different locations throughout the County. This amendment will extend the term of the agreement through June 30, 2019, and increase the amount of the funds appropriated for future projects by $250,000 to accommodate these changes.

The agreement and resolution have been reviewed and approved by County Counsel as to form.

The agreement contributes to the Shared Vision 2025 outcome of a Healthy Community by ensuring a safe environment for SMMC's patients and employees. It is anticipated that all projects will be completed and operational within the term of this agreement.
