body
BACKGROUND:
The responsibility of the Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee is to advise and make recommendations to the Board of Supervisors, to develop and implement an annual work plan, and to provide a public forum for input from the members of the public including identifying unmet needs. The Committee acts as an advocate for people walking and bicycling, and fulfills other duties and engages in other activities as directed by the Board of Supervisors.
DISCUSSION:
Appointments to the Committee were made in April 2018. Since then, the Committee learned that Carrie Doyle, the First Alternate, will not be requesting reappointment once her term ends on June 30, 2018. From the existing April 2018 recruitment applications, John Langbein is being recommended to serve in the First Alternate seat vacated by Ms. Doyle beginning July 1, 2018.
This appointment contributes to the 2025 Shared Vision statement of a Collaborative Community. Our diverse population works well together to build strong communities, effective government and a prosperous economy, civic engagement - including voting, public service, charitable giving, volunteerism, and participation in public discussions of important issues - is uniformly high among the diverse population of San Mateo County.
FISCAL IMPACT:
None.
