Adopt a resolution authorizing an agreement with Hubert B. Shih, MD to provide specialty plastic surgery services, for the term of September 1, 2018 through August 31, 2019, in an amount not to exceed $260,000.

BACKGROUND:
Specialty plastic surgery services are provided under the general direction of the Chief of Surgery at San Mateo Medical Center (SMMC). Such care includes professional plastic surgery services, specifically in the area of non-cosmetic post traumatic, post-cancer, and hand reconstructive care.
DISCUSSION:
In anticipation of a pending retirement, SMMC needs to contract with another plastic surgeon. Dr. Shih has agreed to contract with the County to provide plastic surgery clinic and operative services, on an as needed basis, scheduled in advance and in writing, in consultation with the SMMC Chief of Surgery. The staffing transition within the SMMC Plastic Surgery Department is expected to occur without incurring additional expense (e.g. staffing hours).
The agreement and resolution have been reviewed and approved by County Counsel as to form.
The Resolution contains the County's standard provisions allowing amendment of the County fiscal obligations by a maximum of $25,000 (in aggregate).
The agreement contributes to the Shared Vision 2025 outcome of a Healthy Community by providing access to non-cosmetic plastic surgery services to County residents.
